United Airlines is elevating its branding with a fresh, eye-catching new look for its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The airline is applying its latest livery, known as ‘Evo-Blue,’ to its first 787-8, marking a significant update to its fleet’s appearance. While most of United’s aircraft now feature this new design, the 787-8 has previously remained unadorned with the new look.
Transforming the Boeing 787-8 with Evo-Blue
The ‘Evo-Blue’ livery modernizes United’s iconic globe design. United Airlines is substituting the old gold tones with striking royal blue accents, in this new look. The aircraft’s fuselage retains a crisp white base, prominently displaying “United” in large letters on the front half. The blue accents highlight the engines and winglets, creating a sleek color flow from the nose to the tail.
Recent Updates to United’s 787-8 Fleet
Since its introduction in 2012, the Boeing 787-8 fleet has not yet been updated with the new paint scheme due to its relatively recent addition. The aircraft, designated N26902, was recently flown from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (AMA) for its repainting. The journey began at 06:43 AM, with the aircraft reaching 39,000 feet before climbing to 41,000 feet. It landed at AMA around 11:00 AM CDT.
Continued Rollout of United Airlines’ Redesign
United Airlines operates 12 Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with N26902 being the third delivered in November 2012. This model will soon join other aircraft already sporting the ‘Evo-Blue’ livery, including the Airbus A319, A320, A321neo, and various Boeing models such as the 737 MAX, 757, 767, 777, and the larger 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliners. Although the repainting process continues, United has made substantial progress in updating its fleet’s appearance.
