United Airlines expands its network, adding the Houston–Edmonton route. This route, suspended during the pandemic, will restart in May 2025, offering better connectivity between the two cities. The airline, known for its global reach, plans to enhance travel between Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG).
The service will initially run four times per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. In June 2025, United will offer 4,284 seats. By November 2025, the service will run daily, with more flights and seats available for travelers.
Before the pandemic, United operated this route with 64 flights and 9,026 seats. The new schedule starts smaller but will grow over time. The A319 will be the primary aircraft. The route will help meet demand for travel between the U.S. and Canada, especially due to Houston’s role in the energy industry.
The route also connects travelers to Latin America, enhancing convenience for passengers. Edmonton’s connection to energy industries adds value for business travelers between the cities.
United faces competition in the region. Recently, WestJet introduced a new route from Edmonton to Chicago. United responded by adding its own service on the same route, intensifying the competition between the carriers.
