Virgin Australia has launched a new daily service connecting Melbourne to Doha, significantly strengthening its global network. As a result, the airline now offers Australians more travel options to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Moreover, this new route arrives just before the peak holiday season, providing both leisure and business travelers greater flexibility and seamless connections.
The Melbourne-Doha flights form part of Virgin Australia’s expanded collaboration with Qatar Airways. Consequently, travelers can now fly from major Australian cities to Doha and access over 170 destinations worldwide. This enhanced connectivity allows passengers to reach Europe, Africa, and the Middle East with ease, further improving international travel convenience for Australian passengers.
In addition, this expansion benefits the Australian economy and local regions. For instance, Melbourne is expected to generate more than $190 million annually from the new service, while the overall contribution to Australia exceeds $3 billion over the coming years. At the same time, the additional flights increase cargo capacity by 108 tonnes weekly, supporting exporters and boosting trade across agriculture, technology, and mining sectors.
Virgin Australia is also offering promotional fares of up to 15% off eligible economy tickets on the Melbourne-Doha route. The sale applies to selected travel dates until December 4, 2025, and includes onward flights to Europe through Qatar Airways. Therefore, this offer makes global travel more accessible while intensifying competition on key international routes.
Furthermore, the partnership with Qatar Airways enhances passenger comfort and choice. Travelers can enjoy the award-winning Qsuite in Business Class or spacious Economy seating, along with high-speed Wi-Fi.
