WestJet Boosts Europe Access With New 2024 Routes

WestJet continues to strengthen its global presence by expanding its transatlantic network from Halifax. As travel demand rebounds, this major move significantly enhances connectivity between Canada and Europe. Recently, the airline resumed direct flights from Halifax to Amsterdam, creating seamless connections to several European cities. Moreover, these flights now operate six times a week using WestJet’s Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

Through its expanded codeshare partnership with KLM, WestJet offers travelers more efficient ways to reach top destinations in Europe. Consequently, passengers can travel from Halifax to cities like Paris, Milan, Lisbon, and Brussels using a single itinerary. This initiative not only saves time at airports but also simplifies the booking experience.

WestJet’s growth strategy involves deepening access to France, Italy, Portugal, and Central Europe. For example, travelers can now connect from Amsterdam to cities like Florence and Helsinki without switching airlines or rechecking luggage. Therefore, travel from Canada to Europe becomes more convenient and efficient. This move marks a step forward in WestJet’s broader plan to compete in international markets.

Additionally, the airline’s strategy includes boosting routes to Europe from other Canadian cities. Besides Halifax, WestJet maintains seasonal service from St. John’s and connects to Paris, Dublin, and Edinburgh. These routes serve both tourism and business needs, which helps boost the economy in Atlantic Canada.

While strengthening international routes, WestJet also focuses on growing its domestic footprint. For instance, the airline plans new regional flights from Edmonton to Kamloops and Prince George. These new services will support local economies and enhance travel options for Western Canadians.

Meanwhile, WestJet has trimmed certain U.S. flights due to shifting travel demand. This adjustment allows the airline to focus on its most promising domestic and European markets. As a result, WestJet continues adapting its strategy to deliver value and connectivity for travelers across Canada and beyond.
