WestJet Just Made Loyalty More Lucrative—Here’s What You Need to Know

WestJet is transforming its loyalty program with a major update launching on April 30, 2025. As a result, members will enjoy greater flexibility, easier status upgrades, and new ways to earn and redeem points. With a strong focus on affordability and seamless integration, WestJet aims to redefine airline rewards.

The biggest shift comes with the replacement of WestJet dollars with WestJet points. From now on, every dollar will convert into 100 points, which will never expire. Furthermore, travelers can redeem points for flights, extras, and even taxes, making rewards more accessible. In addition, the program now allows members to earn points on base fares, surcharges, seat selection, checked baggage, and upgrades. Consequently, every booking will provide more value.

WestJet is also making elite status easier to achieve. For the first time, members can reach top-tier status without flying. By using the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard or spending on flights, customers can unlock premium benefits. Therefore, this change rewards loyalty beyond travel, making the program more inclusive.

Another exciting addition is the WestJet Rewards eStore. Now, members can earn points while shopping online and redeem them for gift cards and products from top brands like Amazon, Apple, and Sephora. As a result, this move enhances daily engagement, extending rewards beyond airfare.

Strategic partnerships are also strengthening the program. For example, WestJet has teamed up with TELUS Rewards and Skip, allowing members to earn and redeem points on services like phone plans and food delivery. Moreover, this expansion integrates travel rewards into everyday spending. Additionally, WestJet Rewards members will soon enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi on flights, powered by TELUS.

WestJet’s latest update solidifies its commitment to affordability and customer value. By offering more ways to earn and use points, the airline is setting a new standard in loyalty programs. Ultimately, these changes make WestJet Rewards one of the most flexible and rewarding programs in the industry.
