WIZZ AIR has strengthened its presence in Armenia by officially launching a new base at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport. The airline has rapidly grown since its first Armenian flight in 2020, and today it positions itself as the country’s leading carrier to Europe. With this expansion, Wizz Air continues to reshape Armenia’s connectivity and its role in regional aviation.
The airline stationed two Airbus A321neo aircraft in Yerevan to support new services. These aircraft will unlock direct access to major European cities, including Paris, Prague, Hamburg, Naples, Bucharest, Bari, Paphos, and Memmingen. Travelers will also benefit from increased weekly flights to Dortmund. Furthermore, Wizz Air has started operating flights from Gyumri’s Shirak Airport, further enhancing the nation’s travel options.
This expansion allows Armenia to attract more tourists, increase investments, and strengthen its aviation market. The new base creates hundreds of jobs in aviation, tourism, and related industries. It also makes Armenia more competitive by offering passengers affordable travel across Europe. With ticket prices starting from 9,000 AMD, Wizz Air ensures accessibility for both domestic and international travelers.
Yerevan has become the 34th base in Wizz Air’s global network. The airline has already carried over 2.6 million passengers in Armenia and plans to serve more than 1.2 million this year alone. This growth cements Wizz Air as the market leader with the highest share in Armenia’s aviation sector. The move underscores the airline’s ambition to expand further while boosting Armenia’s tourism and economic development.
