Wizz Air continues to expand across Europe, and in 2026, the airline plans major developments. Meanwhile, the Hungary-based carrier has grown into a leading low-cost airline, attracting travelers with affordable fares. Consequently, its fleet expansion and new routes signal Wizz Air’s aim to dominate regional aviation. Moreover, enhanced services strengthen its reputation among passengers.
In 2025, Wizz Air carried over 24 million passengers, reflecting rising demand. Additionally, it operates in more than 40 countries and serves roughly 200 destinations. With a fleet of 249 aircraft and nearly 10,000 employees, the airline ensures smooth operations across all routes. Therefore, Wizz Air can respond quickly to demand while maintaining efficiency.
Wizz Air has also become Hungary’s largest airline. From its hubs, it connects 74 destinations across 34 countries. Furthermore, its annual seat capacity will grow with the addition of an 18th Airbus in May 2026. This expansion will add nearly one million seats. As a result, passenger numbers from Hungary are expected to exceed 9 million by year-end, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Budapest will host several new routes, including Tallinn, Billund, Bergen, Lamezia Terme, and Rimini. At the same time, the airline will optimize existing flights to maximize efficiency. Consequently, Wizz Air strengthens its market share in Hungary while improving European connectivity.
Besides expansion, Wizz Air invests in Hungary through sponsorships and partnerships with sporting events. Therefore, its strategy combines growth with social responsibility. Financially, the airline remains strong, reporting rising profits and revenue, which support further development.
Overall, Wizz Air is ready for another record-breaking year. By adding new aircraft, expanding routes, and enhancing services, the airline provides travelers with more options and reliable, affordable flights across Europe.
