Finnair is making it easier to explore the Arctic with new direct flights to Alta, Norway. Starting March 29, 2026, Finnair will operate five weekly flights to this breathtaking northern destination. The route, connecting through Kittilä, will use a 68-seat ATR aircraft for a smooth journey. Travelers can now reach one of Norway’s most stunning regions without hassle.
Alta is famous for its dramatic Arctic landscapes and the mesmerizing northern lights. In recent years, it has become a must-visit spot for cruise travelers seeking adventure in the far North. Finnair’s new route will open doors for more visitors to experience the untouched beauty of this unique location.
Finnair is also expanding flights to Tromsø, a popular Norwegian city known for its fjords and midnight sun. The airline will offer five weekly flights from Helsinki, routing through Rovaniemi. Previously available only in winter, this new summer connection provides more opportunities to explore Norway’s coastal wonders.
The airline is also increasing flights from Ivalo, Finland, to Kirkenes, Norway. This route will now operate five times a week during summer 2026. Kirkenes, located near the Russian border, offers travelers a true Arctic experience, including unforgettable northern lights displays.
Beyond Norway, Finnair is strengthening its network in the Nordics. Summer schedules for 2026 include additional flights to Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Reykjavik. Smaller regional destinations such as Billund, Visby, and Bodø will also see extra flights. The Åland Islands will benefit from more frequent connections to Mariehamn, making island getaways even more accessible.
For winter sports enthusiasts, Finnair will boost flights to Ivalo and Kittilä in April 2026. This move ensures ski lovers can easily reach Finland’s top resorts for spring skiing adventures.
