Air Transat will strengthen travel links between Canada and Spain with a new nonstop route. The airline will launch weekly direct flights between Montreal and Gran Canaria from December 12, 2026. This new service will create easier access to the Canary Islands for Canadian travelers seeking winter sunshine.
Air Transat will operate the route every Saturday from Montreal. Meanwhile, return flights will depart Gran Canaria every Sunday. The airline will use the Airbus A321LR for this long-haul connection. The aircraft delivers better fuel efficiency and improved passenger comfort. Moreover, the cabin offers economy and premium seating for different travel budgets.
Gran Canaria continues attracting global tourists because of its warm climate and scenic coastline. Furthermore, the island offers beaches, volcanic landscapes, cultural districts, and outdoor adventures. Canadian travelers will now enjoy easier access to one of Spain’s leading holiday destinations. As a result, tourism officials expect stronger visitor growth from North America.
The new route also supports stronger tourism cooperation between Spain and Canada. In addition, the service creates faster connections for leisure travelers during Canada’s colder months. Many Canadians seek sunny destinations during winter, and Gran Canaria offers ideal weather conditions throughout the season.
Air Transat designed the schedule to improve convenience for travelers. The flight will depart Montreal during the evening and arrive in Gran Canaria the following morning. Consequently, passengers can maximize vacation time without lengthy layovers. The return schedule also allows travelers to reach Montreal on the same day.
Air Transat continues expanding its European network with strategic leisure destinations. Therefore, the airline strengthens competition across transatlantic tourism markets. The new route also increases Spain’s visibility among Canadian tourists searching for unique European experiences.
Travel demand between Canada and Europe continues growing steadily. Consequently, airlines continue adding direct services to popular tourism regions. Gran Canaria now stands among the most accessible island destinations for Canadian travelers seeking relaxation, adventure, and cultural experiences.
