Porter Airlines is transforming Montreal’s South Shore into a major travel hub. Consequently, travelers gain a faster and more convenient way to reach top Canadian cities, including Quebec City, Vancouver, Halifax, and Toronto. The airline launches operations at the new Montreal Metropolitan Airport (MET) in Longueuil on June 15, coinciding with its largest expansion phase. As a result, Porter Airlines strengthens its national connectivity and travel presence.
The new MET terminal opens with a modern design that feels welcoming and spacious. Furthermore, travelers enjoy streamlined boarding, ample seating, and shorter commutes from curb to gate. Located strategically on Montreal’s South Shore, the airport provides easy access to downtown Montreal, offering a strong alternative to Montreal-Trudeau Airport. Additionally, MET promises a calmer and more comfortable start to every journey.
Porter Airlines will operate 12 direct routes from MET, significantly increasing peak summer capacity by 91 percent. Meanwhile, flights connect Montreal with major Canadian cities across coast-to-coast networks. Most routes run daily, ensuring convenient travel for business and leisure passengers alike. Moreover, the dual-airport strategy allows 138 departures from MET and 106 from Montreal-Trudeau, giving travelers flexible options to start their trips efficiently.
The airline uses a modern fleet of De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprops and Embraer E195-E2 jets. Both aircraft feature a two-by-two seating layout with no middle seats, ensuring passenger comfort. In addition, passengers can enjoy complimentary premium snacks, drinks, and free high-speed Wi-Fi on select routes. These services enhance the travel experience and make the journey part of the overall trip enjoyment.
Furthermore, Porter Airlines’ partnership with regional carriers extends connectivity into Quebec’s regions and the Maritimes. As a result, the new MET routes create seamless itineraries and strengthen domestic tourism. By offering easier access to popular destinations and smaller communities, Porter Airlines positions Montreal as a central hub in Canada’s aviation network.
